The book of dispatches
War, war and more war! And then, just when you think things have calmed down a bit, then Israel narrowly escapes civil war!
The campaign begins when Joshua, the new leader of Israel, takes up the reins of command. After a “pep talk” to prepare him for his new command, Joshua organises the people of Israel. After 40 years of wandering in the desert, they are finally on their way to the promised land!
Joshua’s conquests are described and listed. The conquered land is divided into inheritance portions for the different tribes. Israel settles down. All seems peaceful in the promised land. Until…civil war!
The book closes with Joshua’s retirement speech and death. One thing is certain: “God has done all the good things He promised to do! Therefore, serve Him!”
